Waking the Muse.
In times of a so called 'artists block' (-pretty much comparable to the better known 'writers block'), I always found myself joking how my Muse was hybernating. This idea appealed to me..Her (in this case I portrayed it as female) dozing of from time to time, leaving me uninspired.
I tried to symbolise that in this drawing with the vague addition of some color, as if it's slowly creeping out of the forest towards her, filling her with life and color. You could compare it to Springtime bringing nature back to life after a winters' sleep.
In real, I would very much like to know what DOES wake the Muse!! A symbolic piece in more than one way for me. It's always a relief to come out of these artists blocks.
Entirely done in pencil and colored pencil.
Paper size approx. 42x29 cm, drawing size approx. 27x16 cm
